Beauty Can Be Wasted…according to the Bible.
There is more to being beautiful than just your looks. For beauty to have value, it must incorporate virtue and good character. If it does not, then Proverbs 11:22 tells us that beauty is wasted and useless like, putting a jewel in a pig’s snout and rubbing it into the ground as pigs are known to do.
Recognize your beauty and value. Your beauty is in your virtue and character, not the mirror. No one can give that to you neither can anyone take it away. If you use “time” to gain wisdom, then every day, you will grow more beautiful. It’s yours!
Know Your Value
Please, my beautiful sisters, know your value and act accordingly with wisdom and discretion! There is nothing worse than to watch a beautiful woman act common and of low degree and waste her beauty. Watch how you dress, for it tells others how much you think you are worth.
Be Careful of Your Relationships
Watch your relationships. If you settle for less, you will get less than you expected. Have a standard for yourself and those you associate with; don’t go below that. Who you chose to associate with defines who you think you are. The Bible tells us to be equally yoked. That deals with every part of you, body, soul, and spirit.
Proverbs 11:22 tells us that a woman without good sense or discretion is like putting a golden ring in a pig’s snout. First, that’s an ugly picture. Second, it’s a waste of a beautiful piece of jewelry, and third, it tells us that it will be unappreciated.
Pigs
A pig by nature will rub or root its snout into the ground or any other surface it can find. It will do it for comfort from the heat, for food, to communicate, and just because it is an innate action. The American Pig Association says when it comes to rooting,
“There is no prevention or training that can stop this… Rooting is a natural behavior that pigs need an outlet for. Restricting rooting or outdoor time will frustrate the pig causing behavioral issues. When their needs and outdoor time are not met, they may even become obsessive rooters indoors, ruining carpeting or laminate flooring.”1
Your beauty will never be appreciated if you allow yourself to be attached to a pig. You can not change pig-like behavior, especially if they are already grown-up adults. They will rub you into the ground just because it is their nature. Don’t waste your beauty in the snout of a pig. Get out of the dirt, wash yourself off, and use your good sense even if those you watched before you did not.
Watch Your Words
Your words speak volumes about you. Choose your words carefully or you can waste your beauty. It does not take much knowledge, wisdom, or understanding to be able to use profanity correctly: and there is no prize given for it. It corrupts instead of edifies. If you can’t find a better word to use to express yourself, use it as a clue that it’s time to stop talking and walk away and stay beautiful!
