WHOLE in HIM

Our Trifold Nature

1 Thessalonians 5:23
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mankind is not like any other animal that was created.  We are spirit beings made in the image of God.  In Genesis 1:26 it reads,

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”.

A person is a spirit in a body and has a soul, according to Genesis 2:7,

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”.

This page will present topics that help us address all three parts of who and what we are in order to makes us whole in Him.

Dr Bridget King

Dr Bridget King is a long time friend and has graciously consented to share her knowledge both as a physician and child of God to help us be whole in God and to explore the many avenues we can take to accomplish this.

Dr King obtained her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in biology in 1983 and worked as a lab assistant. As Dr. King progressed in the medical field, she also progressed spiritually in serving God. In 1987 she obtained her Doctor of Medicine (MD) and began teaching her first Sunday school class which happened to be for preschool children. Realizing that she had a love and burden to teach, she earned her Master of Science in Education (MS Ed) in 2000 after taking a position as a Family Medicine Residency Faculty. Concurrently, at her home church, Living Stone Apostolic Church, she served as the Church Administrator from 1991-1999 and Christian Education Director from 1991-1995.

Dr. King became the Clinical Associate Director Family Medicine Residency at Akron General Medical Center from 1997-2007. During that time, she served as Faculty of NEOUCOM from 1997-2000, first as an assistant then as Associate Faculty Family Medicine and was also the Interim Director Family Medicine Residency AGMC from 2001-2002.

She served as Medical Director at Blue Ridge Community Center from 2007-2009 while serving as Assistant Faculty VCOM from 2008-2009. Moving out of state did not stop her from rendering service to God. In 2009, with The Church at Asheville (TCAA) as her home church, she took on the role of Sunday School Director and continues in that role currently as well as being on the Board of Elders of TCAA.

From 2009-2019, Dr King was a staff physician at Western North Carolina Community Health Services. Some of her additional community service efforts include being a volunteer at the Asheville-Buncombe County Christian Ministry from 2017-2019 as well as at the Asheville-Buncombe Community College from 2018-2019.

“I have taught pre-schoolers with whom the class turned into spending the whole service with them. I’ve taught Seniors who have walked with God longer than I had been alive. Group home residents, who though could not attend mindfully, for the full hour participated wholeheartedly. Each group provided a unique challenge and blessing to me as I had to use different skill sets to make the lesson relevant to them. But at the end of the day, the greatest joy was to see when a new revelation was made by the student regardless of which group they belonged to. I have always enjoyed learning, I think that is why enjoy helping others learn. I believe armed with a clear understanding of who we are in Christ, we can not fail.” .
